Natural Obsessions colorways are so rich and deep you feel as if you could just fall into the fiber. The fiber doesn’t felt or matt up during the dye process and is a dream to spin. All the fibers I’ve used (Reclamation in BFL, Tease in Tussah, New Growth in Milk, Cherry Pie in Targhee, Sweet Tart in Hemp – the list could continue…) spin up with the same rich depth of color and any unexpected yarn results are a direct result of my own inexpert spinning skills; because of the colors, they’re all beautiful!
A quick note about custom dye orders: Andrea works very well with you to get you what you want. she has done 3 custom dye jobs for me, based on rather vaugue descriptions – stories of what the end colors should remind you of – and has come up with beautiful fibers each time. She’s very easy to work with and doesn’t stop until You’re satisfied.
One concern – I’d love to see more bast fibers – more hemp, bamboo bast or even linen!
I signed up for Andrea’s Springtime Fiber Club ages ago and when I got the first shipment I sat in my chair totally stunned – it was like a love letter in color. Since then I’ve had a long and gratifying relationship with her fiber, in fact the majority of my spinning stash comes from her hands and it feels like a true luxury.
One of the things I respect most about her is her constant dedication to improving her dyeing processes. She is constantly pursuing deeper and more perfect color, fiber hand and preparation methods. Her base fiber is always of impeccable quality and she handles it with care. Natural Obsessions is my favorite source for spinning fiber and that has everything to do with Andrea’s creativity, customer service, innovation and collaboration.

I’ve purchased yarn and fibre from Andrea and they have both been fantastic. I’m not a spinner, so she even found me a spinner who did fantastic work – the resulting yarn was a dream to knit with, thanks to the high fibre quality (and the spinner, but we’re talking about Andrea here!). I’m currently waiting on a custom dye job and she has been very patient with me – the first batch didn’t come out quite like what I wanted (I want to match a previous colourway) and she told me not to worry about it, she’ll get it to work. Overall, a fantastic source for fibre… and tempting one into the spinning world!

I attended the Yellow Rose Fiber Fiesta on April 22nd, 2012 and met Andrea there in her stall with the lovely Buena Suerte & Spinatude. And omgosh!! The fibers! I was overwhelmed!! And having just decided to start spinning, I was in love!! And they told me that I can spin what I want to spin..when they learned to spin, they started with whatever they wanted…because there was no one there to tell them not to!!
There are “stubborn” fibers…but the fibers that are hard for some people are easy for others. For example, silk and bamboo are slippery and I was told to save them for last by one friendly spinner…but for another, wool is her trouble fiber…very interesting!
Enough of that though..this is about ANDREA and her FIBERS! Omgosh!! Those colors! It was so hard to just pick one..I originally chose a gorgeous turquoise…pretty much the exact shade of Andrea’s outfit..or rather..it picked me! (With Buena Suerte’s help)
But more and more kept drawing me..and I left with 4 braids of 4oz rovings..and a little .5oz sampler of another. These fibers are so soft, and luxuriant…and the colors are just sooooooo rich and deep and vibrant and full and oh I could go on FOREVER!!! And the customer service?? AMAZING! Andrea explained SO much to me, and then offered her help ANYTIME I need it! FANTASTIC! I think I’m in love
